Bio International Limited is a relatively new company that was established in September 2005 to supply the biomedical sector with a range of high quality serum products from New Zealand. All of the serum supplied by Bio International is sourced from Greenlea Premier Meats Limited (www.greenlea.co.nz), New Zealand's largest single producer of fetal bovine serum. Through this relationship with Greenlea, Bio International is able to offer:

Fetal blood is collected at three meat export facilities in the North Island of New Zealand. These facilities are USDA and EU registered, and are regularly audited by representatives of these organisations, the New Zealand government (through NZFSA, the New Zealand Food Safety Authority) and a wide range of international customers.
Fetal bovine serum sourced from Bio International is:
- collected exclusively from bovine animals which have been born and raised in New Zealand (pasture fed only), which have passed ante and post mortem veterinary inspection and which have been declared fit for human consumption;
- collected at three state-of-the-art plants in the central North Island, all of which are USDA and EU approved;
- converted from blood into serum in a dedicated facility;
- sterile filtered under contract in New Zealand, or sterile filtered under contract to JR Scientific (USA) in a state-of-the-art disposable filtration system;
- the highest quality available in New Zealand from the perspective of traceability. Each batch of serum can be accompanied by an electronic file which contains details of the unique animal ID number of all the animals from which fetal blood was harvested. These ID numbers can be traced back to individual animals, and to the farms from which they originated. This level of traceability is not available from any other New Zealand supplier.
